Class Description:

Originating in ancient dances and rituals related to fertility, family, life cycle and childbirth, belly dance is based on movements that come naturally to the female body. There are a lot of belly dance movements that mimic natural intuitive motions associated with pregnancy and childbirth, some have been traditionally used to move the baby into the best position, and even relieve the discomfort of labor. Belly dance is just a great way to get connected even further with your baby.

Come celebrate this special time in your life with a dance created just for the state your body is in. We will begin the class with a gentle warm up and then continue the class with a moderate pace, and explore movements designed just for our pregnant bodies, the class will end with a nice relaxing cool down.

  J9's Bio:

Janine aka J9 Fierce, began studying dance at the age of 4. By the time she was out of college she had explored ballet, jazz, tap, and modern dance. At this time she also received her fitness certification.

When she was pregnant with her first child, 7 years ago, she began studying Belly Dance! She hasn't looked back since. She has studied consistently under several teachers locally and has taken tons of workshops with national and international teacher as well.

By the time her son was two years old she was in a student troupe under Katia Sahar, and then eventually began dancing with the professional dance troupe Hands of Kali. During this time J9 was performing on a weekly basis and teaching workshops and classes to students throughout the community.

This past May Janine found out she was pregnant once again and decided to put her performance on hold for a while. She has decided to go back to her roots and share with other pregnant women the joys of belly dancing while pregnant!
